The Long
Way There

On travel, life, and what happens when you stop managing the path and start trusting it.

Some things take the long way. A trip that refuses to go as planned. A season of life that asks more of you than you expected. A decision you circle for years before you finally make it.

This is where I write about all of it. The places I go and the things that happen inside me along the way. Travel and life, held together, because for me they have never been separate. The road is sometimes a literal one. Sometimes it is just the path a life takes when you stop forcing it and start paying attention.

You will find strangers who become part of the story. Moments that ask you to trust yourself. Small acts of kindness from people whose names you never learn. And the quiet realization, again and again, that the detour was the point.

Chaos at the airport in Budapest, and choosing to move through it anyway.

Sitting in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, watching my son perform.

Following a saxophone playing Chiquitita through the streets of Salzburg, not knowing where it would lead.

The destination is always secondary.

What happens inside you is where the real journey begins.

These stories are proof of that. Not theory. Not framework. Just the road, and what it asked of me.

The Table For One

I have eaten every meal on this trip alone. Breakfast in Prague before the city woke up. Lunch in Salzburg watching strangers pass by. Dinner in Vienna with nothing but my thoughts and a good meal in front of me. The table for one is not a consolation prize. It is one of the most honest acts of self love I know.

Church Bells in Vienna

I was about to call an Uber when my intuition told me to walk. A red brick church nestled quietly in the middle of the block stopped me completely. And then the bells started ringing. Vienna introducing herself in the best possible way.

The Run-Prague

The streets are completely empty. Everything that had been crowded and loud the afternoon before is bare. Just me and the cobblestones and the early morning light. I ran 4 miles all the way to the castle. No one near it. The view was mine.

I see a small bookstore tucked between the shops. Something tells me to reach into my bag. My book now lives in a bookstore in Old Town Prague. And a fellow Filipina in the next shop over is already planning to share it with her teacher friends.

The Decision

I was booked for Budapest. The night before I left, something shifted. Not a thought. A knowing. What followed was eighteen hours of chaos, four flights, and the most right decision I have ever made on a trip.

The Morning I Chose Me- Oxford, England

The morning I chose the thing I loved over the thing I was supposed to do. I walked out of a session to see the library I had always dreamed of, and the whole day opened from there. The last ticket, a stranger who felt like a friend, and a new friendship that continues now.

The Beauty that Endures- Cambodia

Cambodia showed me sorrow and survival in the same breath. What stayed with me was not the sadness. It was the resilience, the faith, and the beauty that endures.

The Beads That Chose Me

I was told my mala beads would find me, and that they would be the color of the golden sun. Three months later, they arrived white. Then a Shaolin monk crossed the room to show me what happens to white bodhi beads when they are worn, prayed with, and lived with over time.
